The elevator placement is totally up to you. So, you want to have 3 triple wide rooms per floor and 1 double wide. ![]() Nobody knows for sure about radio rooms, but radio rooms suck anyway. The only exception is storage rooms, and maybe radio rooms. You always want to have double or triple wide rooms because there is always a bonus over 2 or 3 singles. This means you might as well have 2 elevators per floor because that space will just be empty if you don't. Rooms tiles take up 3 columns and elevators take up 1 column. Just to be clear, there are 8-2/3 "squares" and elevators take up 1/3 of a "square." Technically, there are 26 columns per row. Your playstyle will make a difference on how much you need of certain things, and you'll be making choices for purely aesthetic reasons to fill space long before you run out of room. Keep in mind you have 25 floors to play with. But you can get to 200 dwellers without ever using it, or you can get to 200 dwellers without ever having a pregnancy, so that's really a personal preference either way.īut really, so long as you are training up the main stat (i.e., Agility for diners and gardens) and Luck of everyone that's in there and upgrading the room, the choice will eventually become fairly unimportant in the long run beyond aesthetics. The radio room is a weird beast, but the more upgraded the room is the better chance you have for it to successfully call a new dweller, and I believe the size of the room is taken into account (i.e., Rank 3 3-wide chance > Rank 3 2-wide chance). ![]() This can be a bit tricky in a fresh vault when caps are tight since you have to build a relatively significant amount to span the gaps, but is what I would definitely recommend for an early redesign.Īs for 3-wide, I would recommend all your resource production rooms and training rooms at 3-wide with storage, medbays and science labs at 2-wide.
